This is the Aircraft Design Future of NASA

Not only taking care of the problem space, the United States space agency, NASA also contributed to develop future aircraft design in NASA Aeronautic Fundamental program, April 2010.

Through research for 18 months, NASA visualize the future of passenger aircraft. This new aircraft design will be applied 20-25 years from now. There are some fresh design ideas - although the first sight looks old. Instead of adopting the form of a plane in science fiction, this new aircraft design was drastically different from the existing form of aircraft.

However, if we look carefully, there are significant differences - a new breakthrough in the framework of the aircraft and the use of technology will make the plane more peaceful future, not noisy, clean, and efficient fuel. Also emphasizes the comfort of passengers.

By looking at the design of NASA, you can also see the shape of ultramodern with ceramic or composite fibers, carbon tubes, fiber optic cable, aircraft skin layers that can improve themselves, hybrid electric engines, folding wings, fuselage double, and a virtual window.

"Standing in front of the future, you probably can not distinguish with conventional aircraft. However, developed the revolutionary," said project scientist of NASA Fundamental Aeronautics Program, Richard Wahls, such as pages loaded NASA, Wednesday, May 19, 2010. "The amazing thing is on the technology, not just wrap the plane," he said.

In October 2008 then, NASA has called on industry and academia to imagine the concept of sophisticated aircraft in 2030's, which can anticipate the needs of commercial air transportation, but efficient in using fuel, is also environmentally friendly.

NASA did not say with certainty whether this future aircraft will be used for domestic flights or international flights with more distance.

Four teams joined in this program, namely:

1. GE Aviation team put the concept of a future aircraft that could carry 20 passengers. This aircraft can carry passengers from one location to another - are expected to reduce congestion in the metropolis.
This plane forms an oval, with a leveling feature air flow across the surface. The aircraft had fuel power plants that sophisticated. Aircraft engine was noisy, could take off in quick time and did not require much time to raise the aircraft.

2. Aircraft D 8 'double bubble' by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) can carry 180 people - combining two of the fuselage to install three turbofan jet engine in its tail up position. Komponan important plane is the use of lightweight materials and bypass ratio turbofan engine with an ultra.

D8 design team to do the same job with the Boeing 737-800.

3. Boeing Company to develop subsonic Ultra Green Aircraft Research (SUGAR), dual-engine aircraft with hybrid propulsion technology. Having such tube fuselage and wings which help the plane climbed to the top. Compared with existing aircraft, SUGAR wing is longer, but can be folded when parked at the airport.

4. Northrop Grumman team's biggest need for the future foresee is the availability of the aircraft carrying 120 passengers, with smaller sizes and only require short runways.

The team called this plane as Silent Efficient Commercial Low Emissions Transport (SELECT). SELECT revolution is on its performance rather than on display.
