The research team also found that people who slept more than nine hours a night seitap also experienced the death of a high risk than average.
However, they hypothesize, these may be closely related to the fact that these people may have suffered a medical condition that makes them sleep longer. Data used in this study originated from 16 separate studies on sleep, covering more than 1.5 million people. Details of this investigation appeared in the latest edition of scientific journal Sleep.
These researchers include the United Kingdom, United States, and countries in Europe and East Asia. A clear correlation was found there, including sleeping too much / too little to early death caused by a variety of issues. The scientists again underlines the fact, that people should stay sleeping between six to eight hours every night, because this is the ideal time period for activity in the human body the next day
"Modern society has seen a gradual reduction in the average amount of sleep people and this pattern is more common among full-time workers, this may be due to public pressure for a longer working time and a lot more working shifts. On the other hand, the decline in health status we are often accompanied by extra time we sleep, "explained Professor Francesco Cappuccio, University of Warwick, who is also leader of the Sleep, Health and Society Program at the university.
"Sleep is the foundation for physical and mental health. Sleep is influenced by many diseases and conditions, including depression," added Professor Jim Horne, Loughborough Sleep Research Center, who believes that other factors may contribute to this correlation other than the actual sleep pattern. "But after less than five hours a night show that there is something that may not be true. Five hours is not enough for most people and sleepy during the day increases the risk of an accident when driving or operating dangerous machinery," he concluded.
