Sharp Reader Ebook Will Launch This Year

Sharp Japanese companies plan to enter the e-book reader market is increasingly competitive at the end of the year 2010 with a new eBook reader device that can read the file formats new e-publishing himself from Sharp.

Sharp e-book reader will read the files in the new version XMDF (ever-Extending Mobile Document Format) format, developed by Sharp and is used in some previous devices.

The new version adds support for multimedia data and will allow the audio and video that will be entered into the e-book pages.

The original version of XMDF accepted into the international standard for e-publishing (IEC62448), although its use is still very limited in Japan.

Readers for the format XMDF available for Windows PC, Sharp electronic dictionary, handheld computers, mobile phones and televisions Sharp Aquos. Sharp opened the online store for XMDF-format electronic book that has more than 29,000 titles from several major Japanese publishers.

Sharp said the ebook reader has not decided whether he'll support other formats besides XMDF.
